Back Story by David Mitchell. That said, I like David Mitchell, enter usb tv tuner software so I enjoyed the book. Being a big fan of David Mitchell I found this autobiography great.

This chapter it has to be said is quite lovely and occasionally adorable. His book is narrated by himself and is very well read. There they were both part of the Cambridge Footlights, of which Mitchell became President. In case the reader was concerned. Cum sociis natoque penatibus et magnis dis parturient montes, nascetur ridiculus mus.

The chapters about Cambridge came as a big surprise, as I could never have imagined that it was possible to get a degree from this university without doing any actual studying. Oh, and have a streetmap of London handy if you can. The structure of this book is slightly novel, in that it follows Mitchell on a walk around London, with reminisces and comic riffs inspired by things he sees along the way. Why is every film or tv programme a sequel or a remake?

Extremely well read by a man of more depth than his public persona permits you to see, a absolute joy to listen to. The first half of the book is a bit stronger, since it relates experiences we've all been through e. Did it make you laugh or cry?

Back Story by David Mitchell has successfully been added to your shopping cart. He is so much in love and it is very nice to hear how two very well-suited people got together. Why do the asterisks in that sentence make it okay? As a Victoria Coren fan, the ending made me very happy! Was it working in an artificial-leg factory?

Very witty, open and honest auto biography Loved it. Anyway, the bit about why we should be grateful we don't live in a meritocracy nearly resulted in spittle on the windscreen. This is definitely not one of those.

He also sometimes pretends to be an arrogant know-it-all, and yet he can't maintain that with a straight face for long, so you know it's all just a funny act. Which is why, when finding myself feeling rather down, I chose to read his autobiography. And, David asks, how is the digital age changing our sense of public space? As I read, it was David Mitchell's voice telling me the anecdotes in my head. As he repeatedly points out in the book, David Michell is not David Mitchell the author.

And I found the last chapter, in which Mitchell discusses his relationship with Victoria Coren, genuinely heartwarming. One of my favourite audiobooks so far.

But he has gone on to be a successful comedy writer and actor, and Back Story charts how that came about. What members say Average customer ratings Overall.

Especially because I'm certain the author will read it and I would really want to thank him for making all those sketches. Which is fine, but a perfect example of why it's fun to have the author also read the book to you. We learn about his family, friendships, love life, career and how traumatizing it really is to cook a living lobster. Overall I think that if like me you are a huge fan of David Mitchell, this may be worth picking up, but it's not something that greatly impressed me unfortunately. If you're from quite a comfortable background, there's not shame in being honest about that.

Nothing to take away from anyone who narrates their own books, but this man is a performer and has already mastered the art of saying things others find funny. Pellentesque nec risus dui.
